What a fun Senior Portrait Session! Sophie arrived with so much energy and a brilliant smile, it is no suprise that she is a member of Rocky Mountain High School's Varisty Cheerleading Squad. She has a really fun fashion sense and was stunning in every outfit she brought to her session. I especially loved the herringbone patterned socks!
Sophie wanted an urban session with a bit of nature so we headed to the Oval on Colorado State University's campus. The Oval is one of my favorite places in Northern Colorado because it offers so much variety with historic buildings, railroad tracks and giant trees. And on this day, we had one of those perfect Colorado blue sky Fall days that made the yellow leaves sparkle like gold!
This auburn haired beauty will be graduating soon and leaving RMHS to head to the University of Louisville. "Get involved with the school," is Sophie's advice to those just beginning their high school career.

Do you remember all the rain last Summer? If you are planning your Senior Portrait Session, you may wonder what happens if it rains. Well, sometimes we wait it out or grab an umbrella (like April's Senior Session) but sometimes, the rain doesn't stop. That happened during Jesse's Session. We started out in Old Town Fort Collins confident in the weather because my weather app predicted a cloudy day. No problem, I like clouds. However, it started to down pour (what my father-in-law calls a "toad strangler") and as we ran for cover it turned to hail. When I received a weather alert on my phone that a tornado had been spotted nearby, we decided to reschedule the rest of Jesse's Session. A few weeks later, on a beautiful sunny day, we finished the rest of Jesse's Session in the beautiful Horsetooth Mountain area.
Senior Portrait Sessions are always planned to feature many different backgrounds, clothing changes and expressions. Jesse is a mature, confident young lady who has a keen eye for fashion. She has the cutest clothes and it was fun to plan great locations for each outfit. I love how Jesse can own the "fierce" look and then burst into a gorgeously big smile! Jesse is part of the CSP 2016 Senior Model Team and has won a special place in my heart. As she heads to Marist College in New York after graduation to major in Communications, she will be greatly missed!

Shawnea is the athletic #1 singles player on Fossil Ridge High School girl's tennis team. For a girl that never wears makeup and lists "anything with a sweatshirt" as her favorite apparel, getting ready for her Senior Portrait session was a new adventure. And, boy did she pull it off beautifully! This natural beauty has an equally beautiful heart and looks stunning in simple dresses and a maxi skirt. I love that professional makeup application helps you shine on camera without covering up your own radiant beauty. As you can see, Shawnea is simply stunning throughout her session! Oh, and then there is the pineapple. One of the things that Shawnea misses about her native state Hawaii is the fresh pineapple. It was fun to see her face light up when I pulled out a pineapple during her session!

This year we did something new with the Senior Model team. Four of the 2016 Senior Models participated in a fashion couture event very unlike a regular senior photo session. This photo shoot was separate from their Senior Portrait Session and the intent was not to create a yearbook photo! This session was a fun, out of the box, fashion editorial shoot to create images that highlight the talent of our model team, make up artist, hair stylist and fashion design intern. Our theme for this shoot was STRONG|CONFIDENT|BEAUTIFUL and everything from apparel to make up to hair to location was planned to communicate these qualities in our amazing high school senior models.
We began planning this photo shoot last winter. The goal was to stretch our creative abilities and create a unique image for each model that captured their personal strength, confidence and beauty. It all came together beautifully thanks to the incredible talents of our creative team and the maturity and eagerness of our the models that chose to participate. Here are the details of our Fashion Couture Shoot:

Of course, we had to share these lovely images so we held a Gallery Event on October 28 at FASTFRAME's new location in the Front Range Village Shopping Center. The images looked amazing printed on Fine Art paper! Besides, munching on cookies donated by Mary's Mountain Cookies and sipping sparkling beverages, those who attended donated to the family of Blake Miller to help cover the costs of her medical treatment. Blake was diagnosed with stage 3, high risk neuroblastoma at the age of 17 months. We are thrilled to tell you that we raised over $500 to help Blake's family with expenses. Blake has successfully recovered from surgery and her prognosis is good!! If you would like to help the Miller family with continued expenses as they work with Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York to monitor Blake's health, you can do that by clicking here.
Now, I am guessing that you would like to see these images! Here they are:
CSP-Seniors, the high school senior portrait side of Cindy Short Photography, specializes in modern, fashion-inspired portraits unique to each senior! We are now preparing for our 2017 Senior Model program which begins in January! We are so excited to present our very first Fashion Couture Event Wednesday, October 28 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the new location for FASTFRAME next to Doug's Diner in the Front Range Village Shopping Center in Fort Collins! You are probably wondering what on earth I am talking about...what is a Fashion Couture Event??
The Fashion Couture Event is a gallery art display created with Northern Colorado's top artists in fashion, make up and hair styling and four incredible high school students. Here are three reasons why you want to be there!
1. To support these amazing high school students! These brave students are not professional models but they are members of the 2016 CSP Senior Model team. They arrived early in the studio - probably the hardest part for a teenager! - and let MAC make up artist Sara Dozier transform them with her gifts of color, contouring and blending. Then, Aveda hair stylist Ali Sherman, of Trios Aveda Salon and Spa, creatively styled each models locks with curls, braids and some aluminum foil (it was crazy!). Everything came together when each model slipped into the apparel and accessories styled or created by Colorado State University Fashion Design student Kristi Davis. By this point, it was apparent that this was no ordinary photo shoot! Totally, out of the box thinking inspired each model's look. Unlike a Senior Portrait Session where the Senior is the highlight, this was an editorial fashion shoot to communicate what we see in young people in our community. This generation is going to rock the world and we wanted to show their strength, confidence and beauty. Photographing the models lasted until close to sunset on a scorching hot day in August and yet, these four teens were patient and positive, bringing the perfect energy to the photo shoot!
So, come and show some love for our models: Michaela Kriewall and Holly Mack from Rocky Mountain High School and Jesse Goldstone and Hunter Davis from Fossil Ridge High School!
2. Come on out to support Blake Miller! Instead of ticket sales, we are collecting donations for a sweet little girl who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma this Summer at the age of 17 months. She has bravely endured chemotherapy and surgery and appears to be on her way to a successful recovery! Her Mom told me that she doesn't even cry when she has her blood drawn - what a strong little girl! However, if you have battled cancer or know someone who has, you know that the scans and blood tests continue and the medical bills fill the mailbox. Many of you know that I had my own battle with cancer two years ago. Throughout my treatment, I remember thinking how much worse it would be to watch my child deal with the painful side effects. The out of pocket expenses for Blake's treatment will be high. Helping to offset the family's financial worry allows them to focus on the needs of their little girl. So, please come by the Fashion Couture Event and consider a donation to offset the medical costs of Blake's treatment. One hundred percent of donations collected for the Fashion Couture Event will be donated to the Miller Family. If it is easier to donate online, click here to go to Blake's YouCaring page.
3. While you are meeting little Blake and enjoying the artwork, munch on cookies from Mary's Mountain Cookies! Yes, we will have these scrumptious cookies for all of our guests. If you have ever had one of their cookies, you know this is where you want to head for dessert on Wednesday night!
Here is a Sneak Peek of what you will see and the details again, just in case:
I hope to see you Wednesday!
