I was super excited when McKenna booked her Senior Portrait Session for an early morning last Fall. I love morning light! But not too many high school seniors choose to get up early and brave chilly temperatures to capture their Senior Portraits. I think you will agree that it was worth it when you see how lovely McKenna looks in these morning shots. An active girl who participates in track and cross country at Rocky Mountain High School plus swimming and snowboarding, wasn't going to let a little cool air slow her down!
I have a feeling that life is never dull for McKenna - who just attended the MTV Awards and After Parties in LA with her Dad. And her Senior Portrait Session was about to take a turn for the unexpected. A quick drive and a change of clothes landed us in Old Town Fort Collins where we took some shots with the old, gungy cars. Then, we headed to the railroad tracks where we found the train parked with its lights on. The engineer, who was in the middle of lunch break, hopped down off the train and invited McKenna up on the engine! How cool it that? And, just to be clear, the train is not moving in the photos below!
Whew! After that excitement, we ended the session, walking around Old Town while McKenna continued to look stunning. Truly, everyone's Senior Portrait Session is unique.
We are now booking Summer dates for the Class of 2014 Senior Portrait Sessions! Call 970-682-4206 or email me here for more information.

The great thing about working in a creative field is the sharing of ideas among artists. I believe that to grow as an artist you must put your work out there and get feedback from those you admire. I recently joined a forum of photographers called Chic Critique. This forum has been a great place to learn and get input on what I can do to improve my photography. This month, I decided to enter this amazing image of Tessa Gural in the Cover Contest for Chic Magazine. Tessa certainly looks like a cover model! If you are a photographer or an aspiring photographer, check out Chic Critique Forum and this wonderful community of photographers.
I am seeking interns for Winter 2013! If you are familiar with my photography, you know that I love to show the many sides of a high school senior's personality. I love the complex dimensions of today's high school students. They are passionate, energetic, optimistic and so very intelligent! And they continually surprise me! When I met Kayla and we started planning her Senior Portrait Session, I was amazed to find out that she boxes. You know...boxing...as in wearing really big gloves and throwing a punch that can inflict pain. Kayla's coach joined us for the first part of her session and as they sparred - I think this is the right word - I documented Kayla's love for the sport. You will also notice that this girl has great upper body strength!
But Kayla is more than the tough, athletic girl in these first photographs. Kayla changed clothes and we hit Old Town Fort Collins where it became obvious that the girl who loves boxing possesses a knock out smile! The whole world lights up when she flashes her dimpled grin. Next, we headed to the foothills where Kayla really showed off her sense of style! She was just beautiful in a soft, feminine summer dress and then, super stylish in a smashing white jacket from The Buckle. As you will notice in the images below, there are many sides to Kayla's personality and each one is equally stunning!
I would love to help you plan your own High School Senior Portraits! Click here for details and then contact me with any questions or to book your date. I am booking for November, so hurry to make sure you make your high school yearbook deadline! Not all schools have late enough deadlines to allow for a November session. I also love to capture how you have changed since your high school senior portrait in my College Senior Sessions!
Spending time with high school seniors is definitely a perk of my job! While I am clicking my shutter, we have some pretty interesting conversations. Aron Rodriguez, a senior at Fossil Ridge High School, amazed me with the depth he brought to our conversations. Born in Venezuela, he has a unique perspective that comes from experiencing life in two different countries. Aron has a love for the people of Venezuela and their culture that values family. He also has a love for the United States and the freedom Americans enjoy to pursue their dreams. This intelligent young man can carry on a conversation about life and politics with a maturity that many adults lack. At FRHS, Aron is involved in DECA, Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. So, it probably comes as no surprise that Aron's dream is to own his own business. Oh, how my entreprenuerial heart loved Aron's enthusiasm! Aron also has a passion for futbol - or soccer as it is know in the U.S. - and he can enthusiastically debate the reasons why he likes certain teams (such as AC Milan or Madrid) and why he doesn't like others (like Barcelona). I enjoyed every minute with this handsome fellow and I can't wait to watch what this future leader accomplishes!
