If you have a child who has graduated high school, you know how difficult it is to get everyone together for a family portrait.  Well, by the time you are celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary you may have to rally 19 people to get a complete family photo!  That is exactly what the Magnuson family did for their recent milestone anniversary.  They miraculously gathered together family members from as far away as Florida to document how their family has grown.  This family photo includes children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Even the newest member of the family, a beautiful newborn baby girl, was a part of the event!

Such a family portrait is what my Extended Family Sessions are all about!  During these sessions, we photograph the entire family and then focus on important family groups and individuals.  Besides getting a great group shot, the goal is to capture family relationships.  Families are everchanging and often it is only during a special event or celebration that everyone can gather together.  The Magnuson Family had only two hours to capture everyone so we photographed them in the bright sunny time of day.  Fortunately, I had two fabulous assistants who held a large scrim and created extra shade where we needed it!

As you can imagine, coordinating clothing for such a large group is not easy!  This family did an incredible job of bringing together colors that harmonize.  As a result, they have a beautiful family portrait and a gorgeous album filled with images that they will treasure for generations to come!
